About the Artist
She was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta. Ever since she was a young teenager she had a passion for makeup, and for art and design. She began to experiment with makeup and she practiced on friends and gave them the confidence and skills to create certain looks. She realized she always wanted to empower women to feel great about themselves and to educate them by providing them with knowledge that she has gained through her career in the makeup industry.
After university she moved to Vancouver, British Columbia and continued her passion to become a professional make-up artist. Michelle attended Blanche Macdonald, one of the top three schools in the world for makeup. She gained expertise in Photography, Hair Styling, Special fx, Television, and fashion makeup. Michelle has been a professional makeup artist for 8 years, both in cosmetic retailing and running her own business.
Michelle has endured many wonderful experiences in the course of her career to date, and has met so many amazing people. In 2010 she won 2nd place at Edmonton Fashion Week, Fantasy Makeup Competition. She created a look inspired by an exotic bird, which included bringing a sketched character to life.
Michelle had the opportunity to work for TSN for the Grey Cup 2010. She worked with many TSN talents including the panel Dave Randorf, Jock Climie, Chris Schultz and Matt Dunnigan. Others included well known Michael Landsberg from 'Off the Record Darren Dutchyshen, Milt Stegal, Sara Orlesky, Farhan Lalji, Brian Williams and many well known football players. Michelle has continued her success today for MMA events, Curling Championships within Alberta, and many more memorable events with TSN. She has also worked with many talented Photographers, been a part of Bridal events, as well as had a strong focus on teaching makeup to many individuals, along with her growing team of Professional Hair Stylists and Makeup Artists for MiMi Makeup.
Michelle always makes a point of doing her absolute best on every individual she works with, she welcomes each experience and leaves a lasting impression. She is Professional and fun, and strongly believes in makeup being all about the individual who is wearing it. Michelle believes it is so important to understand each and every clients personality, lifestyle, and features to really have the makeup do it's magic and come alive. At the end of the day when her clients are happy she knows she has really succeeded. She looks forward to the coming years for MiMi Makeup.
